International Women’s Day was started in a socialistic political way. This day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. The event is celebrated to commemorate the hard work of the women especially the working women. It is celebrated to celebrate the achievement of women at the economical, social and political forum. It is also celebrated in order to show the general love, appreciation and respect for women. The day is generally celebrated for the struggle of women and it is hoped for the women to have her true position in society. The day is celebrated under human rights as well as political rights.
This day has also been called as the international working women’s day. Many women along with different political and social parties worked for the celebration of this day. The first strike in this context was in 1908 by garment working union of women. Then after that, the strive for women rights continued and protests by different women continued in 1910 and 1913. After all their efforts, this day was first celebrated on 8th of March in 1914 under the name of international women’s day. The name international women’s day had never been given to this day before 1914.
Every year this day has a specific theme related to different rights of women. When this day was celebrated the first time, its theme was women’s vote right. For ever since this day is celebrated for different purposes including the movement of the end of world war and the outstanding work of soviet women working for peace. Now the same struggle of women is still in continuation. The women are celebrating the international women’s day 2016 for having the same rights for women as for men. The theme for this day in 2016 is the pledge for parity. The women are still striving for equality of women to men at every forum.
